What is Climate Controlled Storage, and do I need to use it?

Climate Controlled units are inside of a temperature-controlled building. At Highline Storage, we heat and cool our Climate Controlled buildings. The temperature is kept at a minimum of 65 degrees in the winter and 80 degrees in the summer. Climate Controlled storage is important for items that are sensitive to heat changes and humidity. Items that should be placed in a Climate Controlled unit include photos, documents, papers, wood furniture, clothing and anything else that could be affected by extreme temperatures or humidity. If you are unsure whether you need Climate Controlled storage, just ask our friendly storage counselors. We will be happy to help you find the best solution for your needs.

When can I move in?

If there is a storage space available that meets your specific storage needs, you can move in anytime. In addition to online rentals we offer a 24-hour on-site rental kiosk at our Johnston locations to make renting a unit anytime easy.

How much notice needs to be given before I move out?

We require a 15-day written notice before you move out. You may fill out the Move Out form right here on our website under the My Account tab.

What type of documentation do I need to provide to rent a space?

We require a government-issued photo ID (example: driver’s license, state ID, or passport), a valid physical address and working phone number.

Do I need to sign a long-term lease?

No, all leases are month-to-month.

What kind of lock do I need? Can I use one I already have?

Security is extremely important to Highline Storage. Disc locks are the most secure type of lock for a self-storage unit. Disc locks are required for all tenants to secure their storage unit. You can use a disc lock that you already have or purchase one from us during your rental. We do not allow pad locks, code locks, directional locks or any other type of lock.

How do I make a payment?

Payments can be made online, mailed to the office, Johnston tenants may use the 24 Hour on-site Kiosk to make payments or we can set you up for automatic payments so that you do not have to worry about making your payment each month.

What forms of payment do you accept?

VISA, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, check/money order, Kiosk payments may be made in cash. (We do not accept cash payments in our drop box)

How do I know how much storage space I will need?

You can use our Space Estimator or call for assistance, we would be happy to help guide you in choosing the right unit for your storage needs.

Are there any items that I am NOT able to store?

Perishable items such as food, liquids, explosives, flammable liquids, toxic materials. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding a specific item.

Does there have to be someone in the office to let me through the security gates?

No. When you complete your lease you will be given a unique security code that will allow you access to the facility, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You may also download the Storage Genie app on your smartphone for Hands-Free Access to our Facilities.

Do you have handcarts and dollies available at your facility?

Yes. You are welcome to use our complimentary carts.
